Video: How I Remove My Nail Polish

Hello again everyone! I have another video for you all today! It's a video on how I remove my nail polish. I know I did a blog post a few months ago on this, but I wanted to show you in a video. Go check out that post if you haven't seen it already, here. I know some people add an extra step of wrapping the tips of your nails in foil while the cotton pieces sit on your nail. The foil keeps the nail polish remover from drying. I haven't ever felt the need to add in that extra step, but you might need to if you don't use pure acetone nail polish remover. This method of removing nail polish doesn't waste all the cotton balls. It works for removing glitter polish as well(we all know how annoying glitter polish is to get off).I've been doing this for a few months now, and I don't have to purchase cotton balls or nail polish remover nearly as often now. Nail Polish Review: Dazzle Me, by Pure Ice

Hello again, everyone! I have another exciting blog post for you today. Today we will be talking about one of my new favorite chunky glitter polishes. If you love chunky holographic glitter polish, then you need to check this polish out!

The polish is, Dazzle Me, by Pure Ice. This is one of the new colors for 2013, and from what I hear it can be hard to get your hands on. So, I suggest you run to Walmart and get it while you still can! I love Pure Ice polishes in general. They are affordable, and what you see in the bottle is normally what you get on your nails. They have some sheer polish. However, you can normally tell in the bottle if it's going to be sheer or not. Moving on, back to Dazzle Me, it's a clear based silver holographic chunky glitter. It's packed full of fine silver glitter pieces as well as larger holographic hexagonal glitters. I find the lager glitter pieces tend to over power the fine glitter, but that's fine with me. It really is a truly gorgeous glitter polish. I like to use it when I'm doing a glitter accent nail, or doing gradient glitter nails. It also looks great with one coat applied over almost any color for a quick manicure. Unlike some glitter polishes, where you find yourself fishing for glitter, this one is packed full of glitter. You get a good amount of both fine and larger glitter with each coat. However, it will still take at least 3 coats if you want nothing but glitter. 

My biggest complaint is one I have with most chunky glitter polishes. The larger glitter will sometimes get caught on fabric or something. Even with a top coat, it still happens. As you all know, I always finish my nail designs with a top coat. It doesn't matter what top coat I use, it's still a rough texture. That might also lead to a glitter getting stuck to something, and then causing the polish to chip sooner than normal. It's not that bad, I'm just trying to give an honest review. Maybe, with a second coat of the top coat it wouldn't happen. 

In conclusion, I love this polish, and will happily continue to use it. It can be hard to find, I am pretty sure Pure Ice is only sold at Walmart. If you're looking for a good silver holographic  glitter, run and get it! Plus, it's under $2! You just can't go wrong! I'll insert pictures below. I hope you enjoyed today's review. Neon Pink and White stripes, Nail Tutorial

Hello everyone! I'm happy to bring you another nail tutorial this morning! Today's tutorial is so simple, I think anyone could do it. So, let's get into it!

Products used:

Base coat: Nail-aid, 3 minute artificials

Neon Pink: L.A. Colors, Pink bubbles

Bright Pink glitter: Sinful colors, Pinky Glitter 

White striper: Art Deco, White

Silver glitter striper: Silver glitter

Top coat: Sally Hansen, Insta dry

Step 1: Like always, start with clean dry nails, and apply your favorite base coat. Base coats, keep your nail polish from staining your nails, and also help prevent chipping. Don't forget, to go along your nails free edge with every coat of polish you apply. The free edge is the very tip of your nail. This also helps keep your nail polish from chipping.

Step 2: Pick any color of your choice, I chose a neon pink. Pick 1 or 2 nails that you want to be your accent nails. Then on the accent nails, paint the entire nail. Next, just paint the tips of all the other nails. Wait for your nails to dry for a couple minutes before you move on to the next step.

Step 3: Pink a glitter polish that coordinates with the color you picked. I used a bright pink glitter. Paint you accent nails with the glitter polish. If you want you can paint the tips as well, but I like the accent nails to really pop.

Step 4: Using a nail striper, or a detail brush and paint in the color of your choice, carefully paint stripes on your tips. You can do the lines however you'd like. You can do thin or thick lines. You can even do lines in more than one color. I used a white nail striper, and kept my lines on the thin side. Let your nails dry for a couple minutes before moving on to the next step.

Step 5: Using a nail striper, paint a thin line at the base of your tips. I think this gives your nails a clean and more professional look to them. I used a silver glitter striper. (if you haven't noticed that is my favorite striper to use when i do tips lol) Let your nails dry for a little bit longer before you move to the next step.

Step 6: Apply your favorite top coat, and use a cotton bud or paint brush dipped in nail polish remover to remove any polish that may have gotten on your skin.

That's it, you're done! See how simple that was!

NOTD: Pink, and While polka dots

Hello again, everyone! I hope you're ready for a new post! Although, I guess it doesn't matter if you're ready or not. Today's post is another, Nail of the day. I'm loving these nails! They are really simple, I think anyone could do them. They look girly, and ready for spring. When I get my video camera working, I can record a video tutorial if you'd like. It's so simple, Start with your favorite base coat, paint your nails with whatever color you'd like in whatever way you'd like. When your polish has dried go in with a dotting tool, or a toothpick, and place your dots in whatever color you want. I finished my tips with a line of silver glitter again. Review on Nail-aid 3 Minute Artificials base/top coat

Hi again, everyone! Today I have another review for you. Today's review will be about another base/top coat I've heard so much about. I've heard "it's amazing, it keeps your polish on for a week without chipping,  it makes your nails strong and healthy". So, of course I tried it out, and I'm ready to tell you what I think about it.

Nail-aid, 3 Minute Artificials is the product I'm reviewing today. I'm actually on my second or third bottle of this. However, that doesn't mean it's the best base coat. It just means it's affordable, and wasn't horrible. I got mine at Ross, for $3 (on a side note, I love Ross). The box says " Harder nails 1 step" "3 Minute artificials, no mess just brush it on" "makes nails hard as gels". I do find that it does make my nails harder, but only while the polish is on. As soon as you take it off your nails are brittle again. Which, for me isn't too big of a deal, because my nails are almost always painted. It's one of the "traditional" pink toned base coats, but the pink color doesn't really show up on your nails. It can be doubled as a top coat, but I wouldn't suggest it. It's not quick drying, and when used as a top coat your nails will take forever to dry. I've never had my nails done in a salon, not gel nails, not artificial nails. So, I really can't compare it to "artificals" as the name suggests. 

In conclusion, do I recommend this product? Sure, if you're looking for a reasonably priced base coat that does make your nails feel stronger, and protects your nails from staining. If you're looking for a base coat that keeps your nail  polish from chipping, then you might want to pass on it. I am still on the search for my perfect base coat, but until I find it, this will do. If you do decide to try it out, I suggest looking for it at Ross. From what I've seen online it runs $7- $8, and I get it for $3 at Ross.

Elegant Light Pink Lace Nail Tutorial

Light turquoise & Pink Crackle NOTD

Hello again, Everyone! I have another blog post for you today. It's not going to be anything too special. Just the nails of my day, which aren't anything too special  Yes, sometimes I do have plain(ish) nails. I do understand that for most people these nails aren't plain, but for me, they are. I don't think it needs a tutorial, because it's really simple. However, if you'd like to see one, let me know.

 Today's nail look, is a simple one. Its just a bubblegum pink with a light turquoise crackle polish on top. This is one of my go to nail looks when I just don't have time to go into all the detail. I think the "crackle trend" is over, but I still love to rock the crackle nails.

Edgy Cross Nails

Hi, everyone! I have another nail tutorial for you today. Today's tutorial is kind of "edgy" design, and I hope you like it.

Here are most of the products I used. Somehow I forgot to put my base, and top coat in this picture. I'll insert a separate picture of them at the end of the blog.

Silver glitter striper: Art Deco, silver glitter

Black polish: Sinful Colors, What's your name.

(this is one of my favorite black nail polishes ever, it's got the most beautiful fine blue glitter in it)

Hot pink, and black: Apple Barrel Colors, Bright Magenta and Black

Light Grey: L.A. colors, Lost Soul

Bast Coat: Nail-aid, Triple Wrap Thickener

Top Coat: Nail-Tek, Quicken

Cuticle oil: Pro fx apricot cuticle oil

 Step 1: On clean dry nails, apply 1 coat of your favorite base coat. This protects your nails from staining and prevents chipping. 

Step 2: On all but your ring finger, and thumb, apply a light grey polish to the tips of your nails. Depending on the polish it will take 1-3 coats. Mine took 2 coats.

(you can use any colors you would like, these are just the colors I chose for the design)

Step 3: On your ring finger, and thumb apply a black polish to the whole nail. Depending on the polish this will take 1-3 coats. Mine took just 1.  

Step 4: After your black has had time to dry, go in with a silver glitter striper polish, and create the cross on your thumb and ring finger. It's just 2 lines, one down the center of your nail. The other a horizontal line 1/3 of the way up from your cuticle(straight across the first line).

Step 5: Go in with any color of your choice(I chose hot pink) and make a semi thick line bordering the cross. You can either use a striping polish or paint and a detail brush. I used an acrylic paint, and a detail brush.

Step 6: Using the same color you outlined the cross in, paint one random vertical line on each grey tip. You don't want any of the lines to be in the same spot. You want it to look random.

Step 7: Using a striper polish, or paint and a detail brush go in and fill in the rest of your grey tips with vertical stripes the same color as your accent nails. As you see, mine are black.

Step 8: This step is optional, but I think it makes the crosses pop a little more. Using either a nail striper, or detail brush and paint, go in with the same color you used as the main color on your accent nails(black for me) and carefully paint a line in between the pink(or whatever color you bordered you cross with) and the cross. This gives the border color the appearance that it's kind of floating. As pictured in both of these steps.

Step 9: This is another optional step, but I think it ties the nails together even more. Using the same silver glitter striper you used to make your cross, and paint a thin line just under your grey tips. This way if your tips weren't perfectly straight and even, you can even them out with this step. 

Step 10: After waiting for your design to dry for a couple minutes, apply your favorite top coat. You can stop here if you'd like, but I do 2 more steps.

Step 11: Go in with either a cotton bud or a paint brush, dipped in nail polish remover and clean up and polish that may have gotten on your skin, and cuticles. This step make your nails look more professional, and clean.

Step 12: Apply you favorite cuticle oil all over your nails and nail bed. This will help prevent smudging  and it's great for your cuticles.

How I remove nail polish

Before I get into today's blog, I want to wish everyone a, Happy Easter! 

Now, onto my blog. Today's post is going to be about my favorite way to take my nail polish off. It's a couple extra steps, but I promise, it's worth it. The couple extra steps make it so easy to get all nail polish off. Yes, that includes glitter polish! Anyone in who loves glitter polish knows just how hard it is to get off. This trick takes glitter polish off without using 100 cotton balls, scrubbing, and getting glitter everywhere. It works on dark polish, and red polish, too! I saw this trick on Pinterest, and thought why not give it a go. It works for me, and I am so happy I found it. Yay, Pinterest! I hope you find this trick as helpful as I did.

Step 1: You have nail polish you want to remove, get a cotton ball and your nail polish remover.

Step 2:Unroll your cotton ball.

Step 3: Fold your unrolled cotton ball in half.

Step 4: Fold your unrolled cotton ball in half one more time.

I know it seems silly, because now it looks almost like it did before we unrolled it. You're probably thinking "why did I unroll it". I've tired skipping these steps, but it didn't work as well. Just trust me, it's worth it.

Step 5: Grab your nail polish remover.

Step 6:Saturate you cotton ball. Make sure it's very well saturated all the way through.  

(yes, I know 100% pure acetone is very bad for your nails, but it's what I use. It takes all my polish off so much easier, and faster. Plus, I hate the taste of non-acetone based removers that is impossible to wash off. No matter how many time you wash your hands hours after taking your polish off you go to eat dinner, and bam all you taste nail polish remover)

Step 7: Unfold your cotton ball, and tear it into 5 little pieces  Place on piece on each nail. Make sure each piece is push firmly on each nail. Leave them on for 1-2 minutes. (sometimes I don't wait more than 30 seconds and it still works. For harder colors to remover, and glitter it's important to leave it on for longer.)

Step 8: Slide the cotton piece off your nail. Just press down firmly on the cotton piece, and slide it up and off your nail.

This is what your nails should look like when you've finished all the nails. 

I've seen other people do the same thing only wrapping each nail in foil after placing the cotton pieces saturated in nail polish remover on your nails. I've never tried that, but if you have trouble with your cotton pieces drying out before your ready to take the polish off then wrap each nail in foil. I might do a separate blog post on that later.
