NOTD: Mint Manicure For Talia Joy

Hello again everyone! I had a different blog planned for today, but I saw that the beauty community was doing mint manicures in remberence of Talia Joy Castellano today. I couldn't help but join in. I didn't personally know Talia, but I did watch her YouTube videos, and she was such an inspiration. It is a horrible thing when such a young, amazing little girl is taken from us. She did so much good with her time here, and we should all learn from that. My heart aches for her family, but at least she is no longer sick and in pain. If you don't know who Talia is, then I will link you to a little Bio and other goodies below. Talia passed away on July 16, 2013 from childhood cancer after fighting it for 6 and a half years. She was just 13 years old, and no one that age should have to endure what she did, and yet, she did it with such a bright outlook. So, Talia if you're looking down, these nails are for you.

I wanted to do a video tutorial for these nails, but we had a lack of sun today, and I hate filming with artificial lighting. So, if you would like me to film a video tutorial for these nails just ask. I looked back at some of Talia's manicures for inspiration. She liked bright colors, rhinestones, animal print, edgy but cute and kinda gaudy nails(my kind of nails). Overall I like how these turned out. I'm not real happy with the pinky nail design, but was a little pressed for time.If you have any questions feel free to ask. If you try these nails out I'd love to see, share them with me on any of my social media sites. I'd love to hear from you. Like me on Facebook to see more from me. I'm also on Instagram and Pinterest, and Twitter . Check out my other blog if you'd like to see non nail related blogs.

Products used:
Base coat: Nail-aid, Triple Wrap Thickener
Mint green: Pure Ice, Home Run!
Pink/Coral: Sally Hansen, I Pink I Can
Holographic Silver: L.A. Colors, Live
Fine silver glitter: Sinful Colors, Queen of Beauty
Chunky silver glitter: Pure Ice, Dazzle Me
1 Detail brush, and dotting tool

Pinky: I started with mint green, then using a detail brush to do the coral stripes, then went in with a white acrylic paint and added the white stripes. Next I took the larger hexagonal pieces out of the dazzle me polish and placed them one by one on the white lines.

Ring Finger: I started with a holographic silver polish, and then applied 2 coats of chunky silver glitter.

Middle finger: I started with the coral polish, then made a white triangle using acrylic paint. Then a slightly smaller triangle using mint green polish, then an even smaller triangle using silver holographic polish and then topped the silver triangle with a fine silver glitter. Here is my detailed tutorial for this nail design.

Index finger: I started with the mint green polish. Then using a detail brush and the coral polish, I made a thin vertical stripe going down the center of my nail. Then using the white acrylic paint and a detail brush I outlined the color stripe. Then I used the large hexogonal glitters from dazzle me I placed them one by one with a dotting tool up the center of the coral stripe.

Thumb: I started with the coral polish. Then I went in with the mint polish and a detail brush and painted the chevron print. I picked one line and filled it in with the holographic silver, and then topped that with the fine silver glitter.

So, are yo ready to see what they look like?

I love how these nails turned out! They were very simple. I started with a base coat, and then painted all but my ring finger mint green. Then while that dried, I applied one coat of a neon pink to my ring finger. After allowing the mint green to dry for a couple minutes, using a detail brush and white acrylic paint, I painted 3-5 vertical lines. You could skip this step or use a nail striper. Then while the lines dried for a couple minutes I applied one coat of a pink glitter over the neon pink on my ring finger. Next, I went in with a dotting tool and the neon pink nail polish, I created the 2 small hearts on all but my ring finger and thumb. You could use a toothpick for this step. I'll insert a graphic of how I paint my heats below. Now, I moved onto my thumb. Using a detail brush I painted a larger heart with the neon pink polish. I outlined the larger heart in the same white paint and brush used to make the lines. Then, I went over all the hearts with a little of the pink glitter. Then, I let my nails dry for a couple minutes before applying one coat of my favorite fast drying top coat. Lastly, I used a paint brush dipped in nail polish remover to clean up any polish that got on my skin, and applied some cuticle oil.

How I use a dotting tool to paint small hearts

Step 1, using a dotting tool or toothpick place 2 small dots where you want to top of your heart to be.

Step 2, Drag the left dot down gently to a point.

Step 3, Drag the right dot down gently to a point, meeting the first line you pulled down. This will create the point at the bottom of the heart.

Nail Polish Review: Pure Ice Home Run!, and Bikini

Hello everyone! I hope you're having a nice Friday morning. Today I'm bringing you a review of 2 new spring polishes I picked up earlier this week. I find it hard to believe that with my rather large nail polish collection that I didn't own any colors like these. I had to pick these up when I saw them, they are perfect for spring! These are both new Pure Ice colors for 2013, and you should go pick them up while you still can. I love Pure Ice polish! It wears well, has a wonderful color selection, and it's affordable! Pure Ice is one of my favorite brands of polishes, and if you haven't tried them out yet, you should. You can find them at your local Walmart for $1.97. I will also link you below to where you can get both of the colors I'm talking about today online. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'd love to hear from you. Mint and White Polka Dot Nail Tutorial

Hello again, everyone!  Sorry I didn't post anything for a couple days. Today's post is another tutorial! I was planning on doing a video for this one but my camera is still not working. I will still make a video for it later, but hope you're all happy with this for now. This design is so simple, I think anyone can do it. If you have trouble don't give up, just keep trying. So, Let's get started!

If you want to see how I created this look, just keep reading!

          Products used:
Base coat: Nail-aid, 3 minute artificals
Mint green: Rimmel 60 seconds, Mintilicious
White: Sinful Colors, Snow Me White
Silver Glitter: Art Deco, Silver Glitter
Top coat: Sally Hansen, Insta Dry

Step 1: Start by applying your favorite base coat to all of your nails. Always remember to go along the free edge of your nails to help prevent chipping. The free edge is the very tip of your nails. Do this  with every coat of nail polish you apply for best results.

Step 2: Choose which nails you want to be your accent nails, and leave them bare. Paint the tips of your non-accent nails in the color of your choice. I chose a mint green. 1-2 coats should be all you need. We're going to call this color, "color 1", later on in this tutorial.

Step 3: With the second color of your choice,(I chose white) paint 1-2 coats on your accent nails. Allow your nails to dry well before moving onto the next step. We're going to call this color, "color 2" later on in this tutorial.

Step 4: Using a toothpick or dotting tool, dipped in color 2, place dots all over the tips of your non-accent nails.

Step 5 and 6: Using a toothpick or dotting tool dipped in color 1, start to fill in the whole accent nail with small dots. I find dotting in diagonal lines gives the best results for this. Try and keep the dots about them same size for best results.

Step 7 and 8: Just follow the last 2 steps. Using a dotting tool or toothpick dipped in color number 1, make small dots in diagonal lines. Continue until the whole nail is full of dots.

__________________________________________________

Step 9: Using a striper make a small line at the bottom of the tips. This just gives a more finished look. It also helps to hide if you didn't have perfectly straight tips. I used a silver glitter striper. You can skip this step, or use any color you want.

Step 10: After giving your dots a few minutes to dry, apply your favorite top coat to seal in your design.

If you want, use a paint brush, or cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover clean up any polish that you may have gotten on your skin. Apply your favorite cuticle oil over the whole nail and you're all done!
