Hello again everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful week. I'm going to be doing another nail polish review. I picked up a couple new Pure Ice polishes the other day. I will reviewing one of them for you today. If you couldn't tell I love Pure Ice polishes. Pure Ice is available in over 100 stunning and on-trend shades! All Pure Ice Nail Polish are free of formaldehyde, toluene and DBP. Plus it's very affordable at just $1.97. The shade I'm reviewing today is Jail Bait, it's a blue toned light purple. It's quite a unique color. Out of all of my nail polish I didn't have quite this shade. That's why I love Pure Ice, they come out with very unique shades that anyone can afford. I think they are only sold at Walmart, but I'm not sure.
With just one thin coat it was a little streaky, but not bad at all. It went on very smoothly.
With 2 thin coats it was perfect. It has worn pretty well, I've had it on for a few days. I'm very hard on my manicures, but it's help up pretty well.
Here it is with my finished manicure. Thought I'd throw in a sneak peek for Friday's blog. I'll have a video tutorial on how I created this design up on Friday. If you want to see how I created this design, look out for my blog post Friday! If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'd love to hear from you. Like me onFacebookto see more from me. Hello again everyone! I have another video for you all today! It's a video on how I remove my nail polish. I know I did a blog post a few months ago on this, but I wanted to show you in a video. Go check out that post if you haven't seen it already, here. I know some people add an extra step of wrapping the tips of your nails in foil while the cotton pieces sit on your nail. The foil keeps the nail polish remover from drying. I haven't ever felt the need to add in that extra step, but you might need to if you don't use pure acetone nail polish remover. This method of removing nail polish doesn't waste all the cotton balls. It works for removing glitter polish as well(we all know how annoying glitter polish is to get off).I've been doing this for a few months now, and I don't have to purchase cotton balls or nail polish remover nearly as often now. I hope you found this video helpful. If you have a different way of removing nail polish tell me about it in the comments below! If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'd love to hear from you. Hello everyone! I'm sorry about another late blog. I hope a late blog is better than no blog at all. I'm so excited to bring you guys a video tutorial! I haven't been able to film a video for you all in quite a while. This was the first time I have done a voice over, please excuse it not being the best. I'll get the hang of it soon(hopefully). The nail design I will show you today is very simple. I feel like anyone can do this design. I'm going to a family gathering tomorrow and wanted fun nails. These nails are bright and colorful, perfect for summer. You can use any color combination you want, you don't have to use the same colors I did. I love to do different variations of this design for different holidays. Like red white and blue with a silver crackle over it for the 4th of July. This design is so easy to customize, make it your own! Give this design a try, and let me know how it works! Share your pictures with me on Facebook, instagram, twitter, or Pintrest! I can't wait to see what you all come up with. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'd love to hear from you. Like me onFacebookto see more from me. Hello again everyone! I'm sorry I've been MIA so much this week. I promise I'm going to be getting back on track. Things have settled down a bit. The good news is, I'll be able to make videos again now! Yay! I can't wait to start getting videos done for you all! I will hopefully have time to get a video done tomorrow. Until then, let's talk about how you can grow long healthy nails. When you like to do nail art it always helps having long nails. The longer the nail the more canvas to be creative with, right? Plus, who doesn't want long healthy nails?! I feel like before I can tell you what I do to have healthy nails, first you need understand what makes your nails unhealthy. So, Lets briefly look at what makes nails unhealthy and what kind of things a lot of us struggle with. Dry, brittle, peeling, splitting these are the problems I feel most of us struggle with. So what causes these issues?
Environmental Causes
Prolonged exposure to water, such as hand-washing dishes, is the primary cause of weak, brittle nails. Nail polish removers containing acetone weaken nails, so people who get frequent manicures may be prone to nail problems. Biting the nails or picking at cuticles can introduce bacteria, which weaken the nail bed and cause brittle nails, the Mayo Clinic says.
Topical Treatments
The Mayo Clinic's adult health website recommends applying topical nail hardening products, such as nail polish containing nylon fibers. Choose a product that does not contain toluene or formaldehyde; these ingredients are irritants and may exacerbate nail problems. Hand and nail moisturizers containing alpha hydroxy acid or lanolin can help control breakage, especially if you apply it at night before bed and sleep in cotton gloves to prevent moisture from evaporating.
Wear gloves while you wash dishes, or have your hand in water for any reason.
Use Non-acetone nail polish remover(I don't follow this rule, tsk tsk)
Don't pick at your cuticles, or bite your nails.(I'm bad at picking at my cuticles, shame on me)
Use base coats before applying nail polish, but chose one that does not contain toluene or formaldehyde(I really need to work on this one)
Moisturize and massage your nails/nail bed before going to bed.
Drink lots of water!
Eat foods that that are high in calcium, iron, potassium and the vitamin B complex. These foods include dairy products, nuts, eggs, green leafy vegetables, bananas and fish.
My favorite way to keep my nails healthy is every day, (sometimes more than once a day) I massage either coconut or almond oil into my nail bed. This can help promote nail growth quickly by improving blood flow to the area. Use your fingertips to massage both the cuticle and nail bed for at least two minutes. I know some people who have had great results taking the supplement Biotin. I've personally never tried it, but I would love to give it a shot. Maybe in the future I can try biotin and do a review for you all. Right now my nails aren't particularly healthy, but that's because I haven't been following a lot of these tips recently. However, When I do all of these things my nails are wonderful, healthy, long, and very strong. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'd love to hear from you. Products used: Base coat: Nail-aid, Triple Wrap Thickener
Purple: Sally Hansen, Good to Grape
Purple glitter: Pure Ice, Darkside
Silver glitter striper: Art Deco, Ice Breaker
Top coat: Sally Hansen, Insta-Dri
Dotting tool(for applying the rhinestones)
2mm Rhinestones
Step 1: As always start with applying your favorite base coat.
Step 2: Using the color of your choice on your accent nails paint the whole nail, and on all other nails do an angled tip.
Step 3: Using a coordinating glitter paint your accent nails. I used 2 coats of a chunky purple glitter.
Step 4: Using the same glitter you used on your accent nails apply 1 thin coat over the purple tips.
Step 5: Using a silver nail striper apply a thin line of glitter on the base of your purple tips.
Step 6: This is an optional step. If you have some rhinestones apply one on the corner of the tips, and then apply 3-4 going up the center of your accent nails. I use a toothpick or dotting tool to pick up the rhinestones. You can either use glue to stick them in place or paint a coat of top coat and stick the rhinestones on before it dries.
Step 7: Using a paint brush or a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover remove any polish that might have gotten on your skin. This is the last step, I hope you give this design a shot.
Hello again everyone! I hope you're having a good day, and are excited for another NOTD(nails of the day)! These nails are so simple I don't think they need their own tutorial. If you would like to see a tutorial on these nails just let me know. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'd love to hear from you. If you try this design out, share it with me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, I'd love to see! Like me onFacebookto see more from me. I'm also onInstagram andPinterest, and Twitter . As always I started off with a base coat. Then I painted my accent nails, and tips with the neon pink. Then I went over the accent nails with the pink glitter. I used the nail art brush and black acrylic paint to paint the vertical lines. Then I applied a thin coat of my favorite top coat to my accent nails and applied the rhinestones while the top coat was still wet. Finished up my applying the top coat to all my remaining nails. Them, cleaned up the design with a paint brush dipped in nail polish remover.
Hello again everyone! I hope you've all had a nice week, and are ready for the weekend. Sorry this post is going up later then usual. Today has been a bit hectic. I have another NOTD(Nails of the Day) for you today. I normally don't have trouble photographing my designs, but this one proved to be a bit difficult. However, I think I have a couple decent enough shots to show you all my design. This is a very simple design, anyone can do it!If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'd love to hear from you. If you try this design out, share it with me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, I'd love to see! Like me onFacebookto see more from me. I'm also onInstagram andPinterest, and Twitter . Want to make your tips look more professional? Try dipping a small paint brush in nail polish remover and clean up the bottom edge. Just swipe the paint brush along the bottom of the tip arching it just a little bit in the center. This gives that clean line we all strive for.
If you want to learn in more detail how I created this triangle detail, check out my blog post on it here!
